A History in the Making

One of the greatest injustices of our loss is the fact that our son was not acknowledged by the state in life or in death. Because Brody was stillborn, he was not issued a Certificate of Live Birth, without a birth certificate there can be no death certificate. So, Brody only exists in the records of our family Bible and in the hearts of those who he has touched. When we are gone and our Bible is lost, he will have vanished from history. That makes my heart want to cry out.

It also made Heidi Leggett’s heart cry when she lost her son on May 1, 2004 at 34 weeks gestation. She didn’t stop there though, Heidi began to take action. She helped to create a Bill that would make a difference. Thatis House Bill number 1077 - Birth Certificate/Stillborn infants, or Hunter’s Bill named in memory of Heidi’s son Hunter Davis Leggett.
