I am writing to you as a citizen of the State of North Carolina, and – more importantly as a MOTHER/FATHER.
I am writing to ask your support of Bill 1077 – Birth Certificate/Stillborn infants. This Bill would provide families of stillborn children the comfort that their child was alive and is being honored and recognized as a life. It allows for future generations to research and know that a family had one or more children, even if there are no pictures or school records of that child.
When a mother or father loses a child to stillbirth, they are denied more than just the dream of what may have been. They are denied the proof that a child’s mother provided a home for that child, that she cared for and fed that child, and eventually gave birth to the child – only to be denied the record with the state that the child ever existed.
